Position Overview

The responsibility of this position will be designing, implementing, tuning and maintaining VMware based solutions and delivering remote support activities including phone support and urgent service response. Candidate will have experience in the VMWare ESX platform for server consolidation and virtualization and will also have extensive knowledge in windows system administration, server virtualization, AD management and other similar technologies. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator who is well organized, multi-task oriented and able to meet deadlines and complete assignments with minimal supervision.

Functions / Qualifications

• Learn and maintain current and in-depth knowledge of VMware technology.
• Perform installations, conduct on-site and remote consulting, create documentation and provide knowledge transfer for projects.
• Have technical knowledge of networks, operating systems, utilities, etc.
• Have an understanding of computer server architectures, including peripheral interfaces (SCSI, RAID, Ethernet) and multi-processor designs (SMP).
• Exposure to Windows Operating systems from a system administrator perspective including Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft SQL
• 2+ years experience designing/implementing Virtualization technologies (VMware ESX Platform in particular).
• Strong skills in integration of related technology with business and computer systems.
• Experience working in a high-availability clustered environment
  
• Operational Support of the VMWare 2.0 and 3.5 Infrastructure
• Daily Support of Back-ups, set up of VMware HA, monitoring, etc
• ISCSI Storage technology, create interface into VMWare
• Fiber Channel Switching
• SAN Configure, Maintain, Monitor

• Strong understanding of SAN and NAS technologies. (Netapp)
• VMware ESX 3, ESX 2.5.x
• VMware Virtual Center 1.3, 2.x
• EMC Storage Technologies
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux
• Windows XP/Server 2000/Server 2003
